Maintenance Technician

PeakMade Real Estate manages off-campus student housing alongside conventional multifamily and build-to-rent communities across the country. Their Springfield property is hiring a Maintenance Technician to handle the full range of day-to-day upkeep that keeps a community running and residents renewing.

What You'll Actually Do

This is a hands-on, full-cycle maintenance role. You'll work through service requests, keep the turn process moving during move-out and make-ready periods, and hold down a spot in the on-call rotation for after-hours emergencies. Preventative maintenance is a real part of the job, not an afterthought. You'll follow manufacturer schedules on equipment, keep chemical logs current for pool maintenance, and help the Maintenance Supervisor track inventory so the team isn't caught short on parts mid-repair. Curb appeal and common area cleanliness fall under your scope too, including breezeways, grounds, and exterior spaces.

On the resident-facing side, you'll be expected to communicate professionally with people who are often frustrated when something breaks. That requires patience and follow-through, not just technical skill.

What You Bring

• At least one year of maintenance experience, ideally in the apartment industry
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and appliances
• EPA Type I and II certification preferred
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Your own hand tools (required)
• Reliable transportation and the ability to live within 30 miles of the property
• Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and rotating on-call shifts
• Physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds, work at height on ladders, and operate in outdoor temperatures well above or below comfortable range
