Maintenance Supervisor

MG Properties has been acquiring, developing, and managing apartment communities across the Western U.S. for over 30 years. They're not a fly-by-night operator. The company has real depth, a track record in both value-add and stabilized assets, and a stated emphasis on employee development. This role sits at their Chandler, AZ community, 2150 Apartments.

The position is Maintenance Supervisor. You're responsible for the physical condition of the property, full stop. That means diagnosing and completing repairs yourself when needed, delegating work to your team when appropriate, and making sure resident service requests get handled on time and done right. You'll run regularly scheduled safety meetings, maintain records on preventive maintenance and expenditures, and coordinate equipment upkeep. You'll also work directly with the property manager on scheduling and staff coordination.

This isn't a role where you hand off all the hands-on work and just manage paperwork. You need to be comfortable in the field and at the desk. Experience across multiple trades is a firm requirement, not a preference. The expectation is that you can look at a problem and know whether to fix it yourself, assign it to a tech, or call a vendor.

What they're looking for

  • At least 2 years of experience as a Maintenance Supervisor
  • Hands-on maintenance background at a community of 150 units or more
  • Competency across trades (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, general)
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Strong customer service approach when working with residents

The benefits package includes medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401k with employer match, profit sharing, monthly bonuses, paid holidays, sick time, and a rental discount. That's a solid combination for a property-level supervisor role.

One thing worth knowing about this type of role: the Maintenance Supervisor is usually the person residents blame when something goes wrong and credit when it goes right. You're the face of the physical product. Supervisors who do well here tend to be the ones who stay ahead of the work, keep their team accountable without micromanaging, and communicate clearly with the office staff. The ones who struggle usually try to do everything themselves or lose track of outstanding service requests. A clean work order system and consistent follow-through matter more than any single technical skill.

Chandler sits in the southeast Valley and has seen consistent multifamily demand. Properties in this market compete on condition and service quality as much as price, so a Maintenance Supervisor who runs a tight operation has real impact on resident retention.
