Maintenance Supervisor
Weinstein PropertiesIt's 7:45 AM on a Monday and your on-call phone already logged two emergency calls over the weekend. Before the leasing office opens, you're walking units, confirming your team's work order queue, and coordinating a vendor for a scope of work that came in Friday afternoon. That's the rhythm here.
The Role
Weinstein Properties, a family-owned operator with more than 70 years in the business and over 60 apartment communities across the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic, is hiring a Maintenance Supervisor for their Cedar Park area communities outside Austin. This is a hands-on position where you'll both lead the service team and work alongside them. The expectation is that you're turning wrenches as often as you're assigning work orders.
Your team handles the full range of in-house repairs: HVAC, plumbing, electrical, pool, carpentry, drywall, appliances, and exterior structural. You'll diagnose issues, complete repairs, coordinate vendor work, and keep turns moving efficiently. A slow make-ready process affects occupancy, and occupancy affects everything downstream. Weinstein owns and manages all its properties in-house, so there's no third-party management layer between the field team and ownership decisions. That structure tends to produce faster approvals and cleaner accountability.
Standard schedule runs Monday through Friday, 8 to 5. On-call rotation is shared with teammates, and there's a bonus attached when you carry the on-call phone.
What Qualifies You
- Minimum 4 years of trade experience across HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general building systems
- At least 1 year of supervisory, lead, or assistant maintenance experience in apartment communities specifically
- EPA/CFC certification required (Type I and II, or Universal)
- Comfortable using property management or work order software to assign tasks, schedule turns, order supplies, and communicate with the office team
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and your own tools
- Background check and DMV review required
Compensation is experience-based with quarterly and annual bonus opportunities. Benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance, 401k with company match, PTO, paid holidays, birthday time off, an Employee Assistance Program, and a rent discount.
One thing that separates strong candidates in this role: the ability to read a unit quickly and triage accurately. Supervisors who know the difference between a repair that can wait for a vendor and one that needs to be done today keep turn times tight and keep residents from escalating. That skill is harder to teach than most technical trades, and Weinstein's hands-on culture means you'll be tested on it regularly.
