Maintenance Supervisor

Weinstein Properties runs a straightforward model: they own and manage their own portfolio. No third-party fees, no ownership changes every three years, no repositioning drama. For a maintenance professional who wants some actual stability, that matters.

Bexley Steelecroft is a garden-style community in the Steele Creek corridor on Charlotte's south side, and they're looking for a Maintenance Assistant Supervisor to work alongside the service team and help keep operations tight. This is a working supervisor role. You're not sitting at a desk approving work orders from a distance. You're turning wrenches, pulling punch lists, diagnosing HVAC issues, and making sure the team is coordinated and moving efficiently. The scheduling and vendor oversight piece is part of it, but so is getting your hands dirty on the day-to-day.

The technical baseline here is real. Four years of trade experience minimum, with at least a year in a lead or assistant supervisor capacity in apartment maintenance. EPA/CFC certification (Type I and II or Universal) is required, not preferred. Hands-on HVAC repair is expected. The full range of apartment maintenance comes into play: plumbing, electrical, appliances, drywall, carpentry, pool, exterior work. You'll also need to be comfortable in whatever work order system they use, since scheduling turns and managing inventory happens through software, not a whiteboard.

On-call is shared across the team, which is how it should be. The $150 weekly on-call bonus pays out regardless of whether your phone rings, which is a reasonable structure. The $1,500 sign-on and quarterly bonus potential round out a compensation package that's worth a closer look.

What they're looking for

  • Minimum 4 years trade experience in apartment or similar building maintenance
  • At least 1 year as a lead, assistant supervisor, or in a supervisory maintenance role
  • EPA/CFC certification, Type I and II or Universal
  • Demonstrated HVAC repair skills, hands-on
  • Ability to manage work orders and scheduling through business software
  • Valid driver's license, personal transportation, and tools
  • Willingness to share on-call rotation

The honest challenge with any assistant supervisor role is the in-between nature of it. You're accountable for team output but not always the final word. Strong candidates in this kind of position tend to be people who lead by example on the technical side rather than relying on title. If your first instinct on a tricky HVAC call is to figure it out rather than escalate it, that's the right instinct for this role. The path forward in a company like Weinstein, where ownership is in-house and properties are managed long-term, tends to reward that kind of credibility.
