Hands-On Leadership at a Stable, Owner-Operated Portfolio

Weinstein Properties owns and manages every property in its portfolio, which matters more than it might sound. There's no third-party management layer, no fee compression, no absentee ownership second-guessing capital decisions. At Bexley Steelecroft in Charlotte's Steele Creek corridor, the Maintenance Assistant Supervisor sits close to the decisions that actually move NOI: turn speed, make-ready quality, occupancy retention, and vendor accountability. This is a working supervisor role, meaning you're on the tools and managing the team at the same time.

What the Role Actually Covers

Day-to-day, you'll split time between hands-on repairs and coordinating the service team's workload. That means diagnosing and completing work in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, pool systems, appliances, carpentry, and drywall, while also helping schedule turns, manage vendor work, and keep the punch list moving. Work orders run through business software, so comfort with digital tools for assigning tasks, ordering supplies, and communicating with the team is part of the job.

On-call rotation is shared across the team. The compensation structure reflects that reality directly: a $150 weekly on-call bonus regardless of call volume, plus an additional $150 for holiday on-call coverage.

The full compensation package includes:

  • Starting pay at $25 per hour, depending on experience
  • $1,500 sign-on bonus (details confirmed during interview)
  • Quarterly performance bonus up to $1,110
  • On-call bonus: $150 per week plus $150 per holiday
  • Vacation, sick time, holiday pay, health insurance, rent discount, and 401(k) with company match

What Strong Candidates Bring

The minimum bar is four years of trade experience and at least one year in a lead or supervisory apartment maintenance capacity. EPA/CFC certification (Type I and II, or Universal) is required, and working HVAC repair experience is non-negotiable. A valid driver's license, your own transportation, and your own tools are also required. A DMV check and background check will be conducted.

What separates a strong candidate from an average one here isn't just technical depth, it's the ability to keep a make-ready schedule tight when multiple units turn at the same time. Supervisors who can triage a work order queue, keep a vendor accountable to a deadline, and still close out their own tickets are the ones who actually move occupancy and protect NOI. If your instinct when things back up is to organize the team rather than just work harder yourself, that's the mindset this role rewards.

Because Weinstein is an owner-operator, performance at the property level is visible and directly tied to advancement. For a technically strong maintenance professional who's ready to grow into a full Maintenance Supervisor role, this is a concrete next step with a company that promotes from within its own portfolio.
