Maintenance Assistant Supervisor
Weinstein PropertiesWeinstein Properties has been family-owned for over 70 years, and that tenure shows in how they operate. With more than 60 apartment communities across five states, including Virginia, North Carolina, Texas, Tennessee, and Georgia, they run a hands-on shop where the maintenance team directly shapes occupancy outcomes and resident retention. The Assistant Maintenance Supervisor role at Bexley at Triangle Park in Cary sits at the center of that equation.
This is a working lead position, which means you're not stepping back from the tools. You're diagnosing HVAC systems, handling electrical and plumbing repairs, managing turns, and supervising both in-house technicians and outside vendors. On any given day, you might be reviewing open work orders in the morning, coordinating a make-ready punch list at midday, and fielding a resident call about a failing A/C unit in the afternoon. The role pairs genuine trade skill with the organizational responsibility of scheduling, quality control, and team oversight.
What separates candidates who thrive in this role from those who struggle is the ability to shift registers quickly. You have to be technically credible enough that your team follows your lead on a repair call, and people-oriented enough that residents feel heard when something goes wrong in their home. Both matter. Neither alone is enough.
What the role requires
- At least 4 years of trade experience, with a minimum of 2 years in apartment maintenance supervision
- Hands-on HVAC repair experience and EPA/CFC certification (Type I and II or Universal)
- Working knowledge across plumbing, electrical, carpentry, appliances, and exterior systems
- Comfort with business software for work order management, turn scheduling, and supply ordering
- Valid driver's license, personal transportation, and your own tools
- Willingness to share on-call rotation with the team
Compensation starts at $25 per hour based on experience. On-call pay is structured as a $150 weekly bonus regardless of call volume, plus an additional $150 for holiday on-call coverage. There's also a quarterly performance bonus with up to $1,110 in potential earnings tied to property and team metrics. Benefits include vacation and sick time, holiday pay, health insurance, a rent discount, and a 401(k) with company match.
From a career trajectory standpoint, this role builds exactly the resume a Maintenance Supervisor position demands. You're getting reps on scheduling and vendor coordination, learning to manage through people rather than just alongside them, and tying your technical output to measurable property performance. Weinstein's stated commitment to promoting from within means the path to lead supervisor isn't abstract. The skills you build here, especially the blend of trade depth and team leadership, carry cleanly into senior maintenance roles, facilities management, or regional service director tracks at larger operators.
