Skills That Drive This Role

This part-time leasing position at Redstone Residential puts two skills to work above all others: communication and composure. The front desk at a multifamily community is a high-contact environment. On any given shift, you might walk a prospect through a tour, answer a maintenance question from a current resident, sort incoming packages, and help process an application, all within the same hour. The ability to stay organized and warm under that kind of varied pressure is what separates someone who thrives here from someone who burns out.

Sales instinct matters too. This role carries leasing responsibilities alongside administrative support, which means you'll be talking to prospects who are actively comparing communities. Knowing how to listen for what someone actually needs and match it to what the property offers is a skill the leasing team depends on, even in a part-time capacity.

What You'll Be Doing

Day-to-day, you're a point of contact for both residents and prospects. That includes managing the lobby, handling package intake, fielding resident questions, and supporting the leasing team during tours and application processing. The work is front-facing, and the standard is consistent: every interaction reflects on the community's occupancy and retention numbers. Redstone tracks performance through defined KPIs, and even part-time staff contribute to hitting those targets.

Familiarity with Entrata is a plus. Redstone operates at scale across 38,000+ beds and 20 states, and their systems are built around that kind of volume. If you've worked in property management software before, you'll adapt quickly. If not, a strong foundation in basic computer skills and written correspondence will carry you through the learning curve.

  • 1 to 2 years of customer service or sales experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to stay steady in high-traffic or stressful moments
  • Entrata experience is a plus, but not required
  • High school diploma or equivalent

What's Distinctive About This Opportunity

Redstone is one of the larger third-party management companies operating in the country, with a conventional multifamily portfolio growing alongside its student housing base. For someone early in a leasing career, that context matters. Part-time leasing roles at well-run, systems-oriented companies tend to be genuine entry points, not dead ends. You'll learn how a professionally managed community handles traffic, tracks leads, and maintains resident satisfaction. Those are transferable skills that carry weight when moving into a full-time leasing consultant or assistant manager role down the line.

The compensation for this role is $17.50 per hour with performance bonus potential, and the position includes access to a 401K plan with up to 6% matching, which is a meaningful benefit for a part-time role. Chicago's rental market is competitive enough that strong leasing fundamentals developed here will translate well across the broader multifamily landscape.
