It's 10 a.m. on a Saturday and three prospects are lined up to tour a two-bedroom. You've already qualified two of them by phone, pulled their files, and coordinated with maintenance to make sure the unit is show-ready. That's the rhythm of leasing.
MG Properties is hiring a Leasing Consultant for an apartment community in Gresham, OR. With more than 30 years operating across the Western U.S., MG Properties manages a portfolio built on acquisition, development, and rehabilitation. This isn't a passive administrative role. You're the front line of occupancy, and the metrics reflect it directly.
Day to day, you're converting traffic into signed leases. That means greeting and qualifying applicants, preparing lease documents, and walking new residents through a smooth move-in by staying in close contact with the maintenance team. When a unit turns, you're part of the chain that gets it leased back up quickly. You'll also keep rental files current and accurate, enter data into property management software, and help close out monthly administrative tasks so the property's paperwork stays clean.
Resident relations are part of the job too. When a resident has a maintenance concern or a billing question, you handle it professionally and follow through. Delinquency doesn't fix itself, and neither does a frustrated resident who never heard back. Consistent communication keeps renewals strong and occupancy stable.
The candidates who stand out in leasing roles aren't just personable. They track their own numbers. They know their closing ratio, they notice when traffic is up but applications are lagging, and they adjust their pitch accordingly. If you've ever looked at a T-3 occupancy trend and thought about what it means for your month, you're already thinking like the right person for this role.
Compensation runs $20 to $22 per hour depending on experience, with monthly bonuses and company profit sharing on top of base pay. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) with employer match, paid holidays, sick time, and a rental discount program.
This role is a real launching pad within MG Properties. The company promotes from within, and leasing is where most property management careers begin. Strong performers here typically move into assistant manager roles, where NOI accountability and full-site operations come into focus.
