Leasing Consultant - Austin Park Apartments
Ackermann GroupAckermann Group has managed real estate across the Midwest since 1938, and their portfolio reflects that kind of long-term, relationship-centered approach. Austin Park Apartments is a 226-unit community in Miamisburg, Ohio, and the Leasing Consultant role there puts you at the center of how that community runs day to day.
What You'll Actually Do
Your primary job is converting interest into signed leases. That means greeting prospective residents, conducting tours, building rapport quickly, and following through on every lead with disciplined CRM documentation. Yardi Voyager and Rent Café are the systems you'll work in, so comfort with property management software matters from day one.
You'll also handle the full administrative cycle around leasing: completing guest cards accurately, preparing lease documents, and supporting residents through move-in. When a current resident flags a service need, you'll log it and route it to maintenance. When something feels off during a walk of the property, you'll handle what you can (straightening a unit, picking up trash on the grounds) and escalate the rest. That kind of attentiveness keeps a community's market readiness consistent, which directly supports occupancy goals.
The role includes rotating Saturdays and occasional after-hours resident events. It's the kind of schedule that reflects the reality of leasing work at a conventional apartment community.
What You Bring
- Prior customer service experience (required); leasing or sales background is a strong advantage
- Comfortable working in property management software and Microsoft Office; Yardi Voyager and Rent Café experience is preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly the ability to build rapport quickly with prospects who are comparing multiple communities
- A working knowledge of Fair Housing is expected, or a genuine commitment to learning it thoroughly
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to work a full-time schedule: Monday through Friday, 9am to 6pm, plus rotating Saturdays, 9am to 4pm
Where This Role Builds Your Career
A Leasing Consultant role at a property this size teaches you the full leasing cycle while exposing you to the operational side of a mid-size conventional community. The skills you'll build here, specifically traffic management, objection handling, CRM discipline, and market awareness, are the same ones that prepare you for an Assistant Manager or Leasing Manager role. Understanding local market conditions well enough to influence your own sales approach is a craft skill, and this position develops it directly.
What separates strong candidates from average ones in this kind of role is follow-through. Touring well gets you in the door. Converting those tours consistently, managing your pipeline in the CRM, and staying proactive with current residents rather than reactive is what builds the track record that moves careers forward. Ackermann offers career coaching and commission on both new leases and renewals, which means your effort on the retention side of the business is recognized, not just your ability to close new traffic.
