Leasing Consultant

It's a Saturday afternoon in late July, and move-in weekend is three days out. You're confirming lease paperwork, fielding package pickup questions, and walking a prospective resident through the amenities, all before lunch. That's the pace this role runs at.

The Role at Lark West Lafayette

Scion operates in the student housing space, where leasing cycles are compressed and occupancy targets don't move. The Experience Team Member (ETM) at Lark West Lafayette sits at the intersection of sales, marketing, and resident operations. You're not just showing apartments. You're the first point of contact for prospective residents, the face of the community at events, and a key part of keeping day-to-day property administration moving.

On the sales side, you'll conduct tours, execute leasing initiatives set by your management team, and provide real feedback on what objections prospects raise and where traffic is getting stuck in the funnel. That kind of ground-level intel matters when management is adjusting concessions or messaging mid-lease-up. You'll also assist with social media and local marketing outreach, helping position the community to a student population that makes decisions quickly and largely online.

On the operations side, the work is practical: logging and retrieving resident packages, keeping the office and common areas presentable, scheduling maintenance requests, and participating in after-hours on-call rotation for lockouts and other needs. During Turn, the intensity picks up sharply. Units are turning over, new leases are activating, and the volume of resident interactions spikes. Availability during Turn periods and over the summer is a real requirement, not a formality.

What Scion Is Looking For

  • A customer-first mindset, especially when handling residents who are stressed or frustrated
  • Strong verbal and written communication across a diverse student population
  • Flexibility with a schedule that includes daytime business hours and after-hours on-call rotation
  • Reliability during high-demand periods: summer, holidays, and Turn
  • Comfort working independently and staying organized without close supervision

Scion offers health, dental, and vision insurance, a 401k with matching, paid time off, paid parental and maternal leave, a discretionary annual bonus, and learning reimbursement. This is a non-exempt, full-time position based on-site at Lark West Lafayette in West Lafayette, Indiana. Work authorization in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Why This Role Builds Real PM Skills

Student housing runs on tight lease-up windows and unforgiving renewal timelines. An ETM who learns to read traffic patterns, track objections, and execute marketing pivots in that environment picks up skills that transfer directly into leasing manager and assistant manager roles at both student and conventional properties. The pace is real, but so is the career foundation it builds.
