Leasing Consultant
Hawthorne Residential PartnersHawthorne Residential Partners sits among the top 50 largest multifamily management companies in the country, with roots planted firmly in the Southeast. At Hawthorne at the Mill in Myrtle Beach, they're looking for a Leasing Consultant (internally titled Leasing and Live It Specialist) who treats every prospect interaction as a chance to move the occupancy needle and every resident touchpoint as a chance to protect renewal rate.
The job lives at the intersection of sales and hospitality. You're working inbound leads from phone, email, and web, converting that traffic into signed leases through follow-up and relationship-building. You're conducting personalized tours that connect prospects to the lifestyle of the community, not just the square footage. You're completing applications, verifications, and move-in paperwork accurately enough that nothing falls apart at the finish line. And you're helping coordinate resident events that keep retention numbers where they need to be. Occupancy and renewal goals aren't someone else's problem here. They're yours too.
The schedule runs Monday through Friday, 9 to 6, and Saturdays 10 to 4, with one weekday off to hold the week at 40 hours. Resident events may pull you in on occasional evenings. That's the reality of leasing.
What separates a strong candidate here isn't a resume full of apartment experience. It's close-rate discipline. Leasing consultants who perform well in roles like this tend to follow up consistently, handle objections without flinching, and treat the CRM as a tool rather than a chore. One year of customer service or sales experience is preferred, though not required. A valid driver's license is. A CALP accreditation is a plus if you already have it.
What You Bring
- Confidence communicating in person, over the phone, and in writing
- A natural ability to read what a prospect needs and speak to it directly
- Attention to detail on leasing paperwork and follow-up timelines
- Comfort working Saturdays as a standard part of the schedule
- High school diploma or GED
On the compensation side, base hourly pay is supplemented by monthly leasing and renewal commissions plus leasing incentive programs. That commission structure means your paycheck reflects your close rate directly. Hawthorne also runs a formal Career Path Program. The Leasing Consultant to Assistant Community Manager track is real and supported by an in-house learning and development team. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401k with match, paid time off (including your birthday), pet insurance, paid parental and adoption leave, company-paid life insurance, and 24/7 telehealth access.
Myrtle Beach's rental market stays active year-round, driven by a mix of long-term residents and relocating coastal buyers priced out of ownership. Traffic tends to be steady, which means the opportunity to build a strong monthly lease count is there. What you do with the leads that hit the inbox is up to you.
