Leasing Consultant

Leasing is where occupancy gets won or lost. A community can have great amenities and a solid location, but if the person greeting prospects at the door can't convert traffic into signed leases, none of that matters. Weinstein Properties understands this, which is why they invest heavily in training the people who hold this role, even when those people have never worked a day in property management.

Weinstein is a family-owned operator headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, with more than 70 years in the business and over 60 apartment communities across Virginia, North Carolina, Texas, Tennessee, and Georgia. The Bexley Westshore community in Cumming, GA is hiring a Leasing Consultant. Starting pay is $20/hour and scales with experience. Quarterly bonuses are part of the package, and this specific opening includes an alternate schedule bonus of $80 per pay period for working Saturdays and taking a weekday off instead.

The Schedule and Compensation Structure

This is an alternate-schedule position. You'll work five days per week including Saturdays (9am to 5pm), with Sundays and one weekday off each week. Weekday hours run 9am to 6pm. The schedule stays consistent week to week, which makes it easier to plan your life around. In addition to base pay and the alternate schedule bonus, you'll earn quarterly bonuses tied to performance. Benefits include a rent discount, health, dental and vision insurance, 401k with company match, paid holidays, birthday time off, vacation, and sick time.

What the Role Actually Involves

Leasing Consultants at Weinstein are the first point of contact for prospective residents and a daily resource for current ones. You'll handle tours, follow up on leads, process applications, and support the administrative side of the leasing office. Property walks, unit inspections, and helping maintain the overall appearance of the community are part of the job too. Resident events and occasional weather-related situations may pull you outside standard hours from time to time.

Weinstein is explicit that prior leasing experience is not required. Their training program is built to bring motivated people up to speed from the ground. What they screen for is attitude, communication, and the ability to stay organized when priorities shift mid-day, which happens constantly in a leasing office.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfort engaging with people in person, by phone, and via email
  • Organized, goal-oriented, and able to manage competing tasks
  • Team-oriented with a willingness to pitch in beyond a defined job description
  • Flexible availability, including Saturdays

One thing worth knowing about this career path: leasing consultant roles at well-run operators like Weinstein are genuine entry points into property management. Strong performers typically move into Assistant Manager roles where they own the financial reporting side, including rent collections, delinquency tracking, and NOI contribution at the property level. Weinstein notes that many of their current leaders started exactly where this role begins.

Cumming sits in Forsyth County, one of the fastest-growing counties in Georgia, which means lease-up pressure and steady traffic are real factors at communities in this market. For a leasing consultant, that translates to a high-volume environment with genuine opportunity to build conversion skills quickly.
