Leasing Consultant

Leasing is a skill set that crosses sales, service, operations, and communication, often within the same hour. At Bexley Grapevine, Weinstein Properties is looking for someone who can hold all of that at once. Experience in the industry is a plus, but the qualities that actually drive leasing performance here are harder to train: genuine warmth with strangers, the ability to shift gears fast, and a drive to hit a number without losing the personal touch that gets people to sign.

The Skills This Role Runs On

Traffic-to-lease conversion starts with the first conversation. You'll guide prospective residents from initial inquiry through application, building enough trust along the way that they choose this community over the other three they toured this weekend. That takes active listening, confident follow-up, and a low-ego willingness to serve. On the administrative side, you'll handle leasing paperwork, resident correspondence, and property reporting, so attention to detail matters as much as personality. Walking the property to inspect homes and assess curb appeal is a regular part of the job, which means you'll develop a practical eye for what affects a prospect's first impression before they even reach the leasing office.

The schedule runs weekdays 9 to 6 and Saturdays 9 to 5 on a rotating basis with your team, with Sundays closed. Starting pay is $19 per hour, with quarterly bonuses tied to results.

What Strong Candidates Bring

  • Comfort handling interruptions without losing momentum, because a leasing day rarely runs in a straight line
  • Written communication that's clear and personable, since email and text follow-up are a real part of the conversion funnel
  • A team-first instinct: the expectation here is that everyone does a bit of everything, including tasks that fall outside a strict job description
  • Goal orientation, because leasing is ultimately a performance role with measurable outcomes

Why Weinstein Specifically

Weinstein Properties has owned and operated apartment communities for more than 70 years, still under family ownership and still headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, with a portfolio of over 60 communities across five states. That longevity reflects something real about how they operate. The training program is genuine, not a PDF and a password. Many of Weinstein's current managers and regional staff came up through leasing roles, so the career trajectory from this position is well-documented and achievable. For someone early in a property management career, leasing is where you build the instincts that make everything else make sense: how traffic converts, how concessions affect occupancy, how resident retention connects directly to NOI. Starting here gives you that foundation.
