Leasing Consultant
Hawthorne Residential PartnersWhat You'll Actually Do
At Hawthorne Residential Partners, the Leasing Consultant role sits at the center of the community's daily rhythm. Your mornings might start with a stack of unread inquiry emails and a handful of scheduled tours. By afternoon, you're walking a prospect through a unit, reading what they care about, and adjusting your presentation on the fly. You'll close the day following up on applications, tracking down a missing verification document, and making sure the leasing office looks sharp for tomorrow. Saturdays bring a different energy: shorter hours, motivated traffic, and often the highest-conversion day of the week.
Beyond tours and paperwork, this role has a community-building dimension that leasing roles at smaller operators often lack. You'll help coordinate resident events, contribute to social media outreach, and keep a working knowledge of competing communities in the Cary market. Occupancy and renewal goals are shared targets, so your results connect directly to the property's NOI picture even at the consultant level.
What You Bring
- At least one year of customer service, sales, or apartment leasing experience (preferred, not required)
- Confidence communicating in person, by phone, and through written channels like email and web chat
- Comfort following a defined process for applications, move-in paperwork, and lead follow-up
- A valid driver's license
- A CALP designation is a plus, though Hawthorne provides development resources if you're working toward it
Strong candidates tend to be people who genuinely enjoy the persuasion side of leasing: identifying what a prospect needs, addressing hesitation directly, and guiding them toward a decision without pressure. If you find that kind of conversation energizing rather than draining, you'll fit the rhythm of this role well.
Where This Role Takes You
Hawthorne operates a formal career path program, and the Leasing Consultant position is a recognized entry point into property management leadership. The natural next step is Assistant Community Manager, where you'd take on more operational responsibility including delinquency tracking, reporting, and vendor coordination. The skills you build here, reading traffic patterns, working renewal conversations, and managing leasing paperwork accurately, transfer directly to that next level and beyond.
The schedule runs Monday through Friday, 9 to 6, and Saturdays from 10 to 4, with one weekday off each week to keep hours at 40. Resident events may occasionally extend into evenings. Compensation includes an hourly base plus monthly leasing and renewal commissions, along with a full benefits package covering medical, dental, vision, 401k match, paid parental leave, and pet insurance, among others.
