Leasing Consultant

Leasing consultant roles at established New England operators tend to be high-touch, relationship-driven positions. At Babcock Towers, a John M. Corcoran property in Boston, that holds true. JMC has been in the business since 1951, and the company still runs with the kind of hands-on culture where a leasing consultant's work is visible and valued.

What the Job Looks Like

Most of your week centers on converting traffic into signed leases. You'll show apartments, walk prospective residents through pricing and lease terms, and process applications. When someone decides to move in, you build the lease package and manage the move-in process so it goes smoothly from start to finish.

You're also responsible for keeping the property's occupancy pipeline active. That means setting your own sales goals and working toward them through online advertising, social media, and local networking. This isn't a role where marketing gets handed off to someone else. You own it at the property level.

Beyond leasing, you'll stay in contact with current residents throughout their tenancy and conduct property inspections to keep curb appeal sharp. The schedule runs Tuesday through Saturday, 9 AM to 5 PM.

What JMC Is Looking For

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfort with computers and standard leasing software
  • Organized, with solid time management habits
  • A genuine, positive presence with prospective and current residents

No prior leasing experience is required. JMC states openly that they want someone eager to learn the business, which means this role is a real entry point, not just a title for someone who already has three years of experience.

Compensation and Benefits

The pay range runs from $24 to $27.50 per hour, plus a $2,500 sign-on bonus. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, paid time off and holidays, and a 401(k) with a company match.

One thing worth noting for candidates new to leasing: this role builds a skill set that transfers directly into assistant manager and property manager positions. The combination of sales, lease administration, resident relations, and basic marketing exposure is exactly what operators look for when promoting from within. JMC has a track record of long-tenured employees, which suggests those paths are real here, not just recruiting language.
