Groundskeeper

What the Work Actually Looks Like

Most of your day happens outside, and that's by design. You'll move through the property consistently, picking up debris, clearing sidewalks and breezeways, keeping parking lots clean, and making sure pet stations and compactor areas don't become eyesores. Pool decks, courtyards, grilling stations, and outdoor seating areas all fall within your scope. Light landscaping tasks like raking, weeding, and trimming come up regularly, directed by the maintenance team.

You'll also handle smaller but visible details: replacing burned-out exterior bulbs, doing touch-up painting on curbs and signposts, and keeping the maintenance shop and storage areas organized. When a unit turns, you may assist with light cleaning or debris removal to help the team move through make-readies faster. During seasonal shifts, you'll support storm prep and cleanup. And from time to time, you'll distribute resident communications door to door, which puts you in direct contact with the people who live there.

The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with participation in an on-call rotation for after-hours needs.

Who Fits Well Here

A high school diploma or GED is required. A valid driver's license is required. Some background in yardwork or general facility upkeep is expected. Prior maintenance or repair experience is a plus, but Hawthorne has built a formal career path program specifically to develop people who don't yet have a full technical skill set.
