The evening shift at a Class A community runs on a different rhythm than the daytime. Traffic slows, but the stakes don't. Residents returning from work, guests arriving for visits, deliveries piling up, a maintenance issue that nobody caught during the day walk. The concierge on the 4pm to midnight shift is often the last line of quality control before the building goes quiet, and that requires a specific kind of person.

Comstock is hiring a full-time evening concierge for their Rockville, MD community, Monday through Friday. The role centers on front-of-house presence: greeting residents and guests, managing access control so only authorized individuals enter, handling incoming calls, and coordinating reservations for amenity spaces, loading elevators, and the loading dock. You'll also complete building walks each shift, flagging maintenance items, straightening common areas, and keeping the reception desk organized and professional. The work is active, not sedentary, and it asks you to hold a lot of moving pieces simultaneously.

What this role requires is a foundation in high-end customer service, at least a year of concierge or comparable hospitality experience, and the communication skills to handle both a polite resident inquiry and a frustrated complaint without losing composure. Proficiency in Outlook, Word, and Excel matters for day-to-day coordination tasks. What it builds is something harder to teach: the ability to read a space, anticipate needs before they become requests, and represent a property's brand through every interaction, including the routine ones at 10pm when nobody's watching.

The strongest candidates in this type of role aren't just friendly. They're observant. They notice the chair that's slightly out of place, the guest who's been waiting a few minutes too long, the call that needs to go to maintenance rather than management. That attention to detail, combined with genuine accountability, is what separates a good concierge from one residents actually trust and remember.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum one year of concierge or high-end customer service experience preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Ability to work holidays and pick up additional shifts when needed
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-directed, accountable, and comfortable working independently during evening hours

Comstock offers a competitive salary in the $18 to $22 per hour range for this position, along with a benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, 401(k) match, life insurance, housing discount, commuter benefits, free parking with EV charging, parental leave, and annual professional development funds. The company also offers advancement opportunities across its growing portfolio, which makes this a reasonable entry point for someone looking to build a longer career in residential property management.
