Comstock's ParkX division keeps a portfolio of office properties running smoothly across the Arlington area, and the Day Porter role sits right at the center of that daily operation. This is a Monday through Friday position, 12PM to 9PM, so you'll be present through the full afternoon and evening cycle of tenant activity, including the wind-down hours when thorough cleaning and restocking actually gets done properly.
Your day covers the full range of commercial janitorial work: floors, restrooms, kitchens, meeting rooms, and common areas across an office environment. You'll empty trash and recycling, monitor supply levels, maintain your janitorial closet in organized and hazard-free condition, and complete end-of-shift documentation before handing off to the next shift. Beyond the cleaning checklist, you're also a visible presence for tenants and visitors. ParkX positions its porters as part of the property-facing team, so greeting people professionally and responding to cleanliness concerns quickly is genuinely part of the job, not an afterthought.
You'll report directly to a Senior Operations Manager and work within established schedules and checklists. When equipment needs attention or a safety issue comes up, you document it and flag it to management rather than letting it slide. Flexibility matters here: the role includes availability for after-hours and weekend coverage during events or peak periods.
Arlington's office market has seen significant flux over the past few years, with mixed-use and transit-oriented properties holding up better than traditional suburban office stock. Comstock's ParkX properties tend to sit in that better-positioned category, which means consistent occupancy and tenant expectations that run high. A porter who treats tenant-facing interactions with the same care as the cleaning work itself will stand out here. The 12PM to 9PM shift is a real advantage for candidates who prefer afternoon hours, and the free parking and EV charging benefit is genuinely useful given the cost of commuting in Northern Virginia.
