Customer Experience Specialist at Fox Point Apartments
Cottonwood ResidentialLeasing roles live or die on the front-line experience. When a prospect walks through the door or sends a text at 7pm, the person who responds sets the tone for everything that follows: whether someone signs, renews, or leaves a three-star review. Cottonwood Residential built this role around that reality at Fox Point Apartments in Millcreek, Utah.
What the Job Actually Looks Like
This is a full-time, customer-facing position with a schedule that includes weekends and evenings. That's the nature of leasing: prospects tour when they're free, not when it's convenient for office staff.
Day-to-day, you're handling inbound traffic across phone, email, and text. You take detailed notes. You know the current availability, pricing, and unit features well enough to answer questions on the spot. You walk the property regularly, checking vacant units and the tour path to make sure everything meets Cottonwood's standards before a prospect or new resident sees it. Move-in readiness is part of your responsibility, not someone else's.
You'll also help coordinate community events, support social media marketing efforts, keep the package room organized, and maintain vendor communications. It's a broader scope than pure leasing, which gives you exposure to the operational side of running a community.
Cottonwood was an early adopter of self-guided tours, so you'll be working within a tech-forward leasing environment. Knowing how to support prospects who are navigating the process independently, without hand-holding every step, is part of the job.
What Strong Candidates Bring
- Genuine comfort with high-volume, multi-channel communication (phone, email, text, in-person) across a single shift
- A habit of standing up and greeting people when they walk in, not glancing up from a screen
- Attention to detail on apartment readiness and tour paths, because a scuffed wall or a dim light during a showing matters
- Comfort with flexible scheduling, including weekends and some evenings
- Interest in growing into a management track over time
The Millcreek submarket sits inside a competitive Salt Lake City metro where renter expectations have risen alongside new supply. Prospects have options. The difference between a signed lease and a lost lead often comes down to response time and how confident the leasing consultant sounds when answering questions about pricing and availability. That's the practical skill this role builds fast, and it transfers directly to assistant manager and property manager positions down the line.
Benefits include health, vision, dental, life, and disability coverage available within the first 30 days, a 401k with company match, HSA matching, three weeks of PTO in year one, and 10.5 paid holidays. Compensation includes a base wage plus a quarterly bonus structure.
