Cleaner - Part-Time
Redstone ResidentialStudent housing operations run on presentation. Prospective residents and their parents are walking your property, and curb appeal either closes the deal or kills it before leasing ever gets a word in. Redstone Residential, one of the larger third-party student housing operators in the country with more than 38,000 beds under management, keeps that standard up partly through roles like this one.
What the Work Actually Looks Like
This is a part-time cleaner position at a Redstone community in Rexburg, Idaho, compensated at $12.00 per hour. Shifts run four to six hours, and you'll spend most of that time on your feet. The core of the job is keeping common areas, hallways, parking structures, and outdoor grounds consistently clean and presentable. That includes trash removal, landscaping upkeep, snow and ice clearing, and maintaining the clubhouse, office, and model unit. You'll also conduct cleaning checks inside residents' apartments to verify units are meeting the property's cleanliness standards, which is a regular part of student housing operations and requires a straightforward but professional approach when interacting with residents.
Basic maintenance support is part of the role as well, though this position is cleaning-focused rather than a full maintenance tech position. If you've done janitorial, facilities, or groundskeeping work before and you're comfortable working independently without someone telling you what to do next, you'll fit the rhythm of this job.
What Redstone is Looking For
- Prior janitorial or cleaning experience
- Ability to complete daily tasks with minimal supervision
- Comfortable lifting 50-plus pounds and standing for extended shifts
- A genuinely approachable demeanor when interacting with residents and staff
- Willingness to participate in Redstone training programs
A Note on Student Housing Specifically
Student housing has its own rhythms. Turn season is compressed and intense, move-ins cluster around the academic calendar, and resident cleaning checks are a genuine operational tool, not just a formality. The best people in porter and cleaning roles at student properties understand that what they're maintaining is essentially a product that's being marketed and re-leased on a cycle. Attention to detail in common areas directly affects traffic and, eventually, occupancy. That's not abstract. It shows up in how a property performs.
Redstone is headquartered in Provo and has built a national footprint across 20 states. For someone starting out in property management or building a stable part-time schedule, this kind of role at a professionally managed community is a reasonable place to start learning how properties actually run on the ground level.
