Assistant Property Manager (Leasing & Experience Manager I) - Villages
Prometheus Real Estate GroupPrometheus Real Estate Group has been operating in the Bay Area since 1965, and as the largest privately held apartment owner in the region, they think about real estate in decades rather than quarters. That long-term mindset shapes how they operate their communities, and it shapes how they develop their people. This Leasing and Experience Manager role at their Villages property in Cupertino sits right at that intersection.
The title signals something worth taking seriously. Prometheus doesn't call this role an Assistant Property Manager because they don't want the job done the way most companies define that title. You're running the leasing operation, coaching a team, managing resident relations, and contributing to the community's occupancy and financial performance. That's a wide scope, and it compounds fast as a career asset.
On any given weekend (and weekends are part of the regular schedule here), you might be walking a prospective resident through a unit, following up on a delinquency, reviewing concession strategy with the manager, coaching a newer leasing agent through a close, and planning a resident event. The work doesn't silo neatly. That's actually the point. Professionals who've held this kind of role for a year or two consistently find that the combination of leasing fluency, team supervision, and operational exposure makes them credible candidates for Property Manager roles faster than people who spent that same time doing pure leasing or pure admin work.
Cupertino is a high-demand Silicon Valley submarket. Residents are sophisticated, expectations run high, and the competition from other Class A communities is real. Knowing your market intimately, down to effective rents, concession trends, and traffic patterns across comparable properties, is part of what this role demands day-to-day.
Pay runs $33.25 to $36.25 per hour, plus a $200 per-lease incentive, weekend shift premium, and a semi-annual discretionary bonus. Medical, vision, and dental are fully company-paid. There's a 401(k) with employer matching, tenure-based housing discounts, and educational assistance including tuition reimbursement.
What Prometheus is Looking For
- At least two years of leasing experience, with a track record of closing and some exposure to coaching others
- Comfort with the operational side: occupancy reporting, collections, pricing input, and resident file management
- Customer service instincts that hold up under pressure, including with difficult resident situations
- A schedule that can accommodate regular weekend availability
- A bachelor's degree is preferred; a high school diploma or GED is required
What separates strong candidates here is the combination of leasing skill and genuine interest in leading a team. Plenty of people can lease well. Fewer can also set goals clearly, give useful feedback to newer agents, and keep the team's energy up through the routine stretches. If you've already started doing informal coaching in a previous role and found you were good at it, that's a real signal you're ready for this step.
