Assistant Property Manager

A prospective resident walks in without an appointment on a busy Saturday, a work order follow-up is waiting in the queue, and your property manager is offsite. You handle all three without breaking stride. That's the kind of day this role is built around, and it suits some people very well.

The Role at Bexley Mt. Juliet

Weinstein Properties has operated for over 70 years as a family-owned company, and they still run their communities with a hands-on philosophy that shows up in daily operations. This Assistant Property Manager position sits at Bexley Mt. Juliet, one of their Tennessee communities, and covers a wide range of on-site responsibilities. Mt. Juliet has grown fast over the past decade as Wilson County has absorbed overflow from Nashville's expansion, which means a competitive rental market with active traffic and residents who have options. Keeping occupancy strong here requires genuine engagement with prospects and residents alike.

Day-to-day, you'll work leads from multiple channels, schedule and conduct tours, process applications, and prepare lease paperwork through execution. Resident services are a substantial part of the work: renewals, transfers, early terminations, pet addenda, account questions, and move-out processing including security deposit dispositions. You'll also post rent, follow up on delinquent balances, and coordinate with the maintenance team. Walking units to confirm make-ready quality before move-ins is part of the routine. You'll help plan and host resident events, assist with training newer team members, and support the property manager across operations.

Starting pay is $24/hour, with increases based on experience and quarterly bonuses. The schedule runs weekdays 9 to 6, with rotating Saturdays from 9 to 5. Benefits include rent discount, paid holidays, birthday time off, vacation and sick time, health/dental/vision coverage, an Employee Assistance Program, and a 401k with company match.

What Weinstein Is Looking For

Prior property management experience is a plus, but the company will hire from strong customer service, sales, or hospitality backgrounds if the candidate brings solid communication skills, some leadership experience, and a genuine orientation toward helping people through problems. This is an active, on-your-feet position. Expect to be moving around the property, not anchored to a desk.

  • Strong verbal and written communication, including comfort in difficult conversations with residents
  • Experience leading or coaching others in some capacity, even informally
  • Attention to detail in leasing paperwork, unit inspections, and account follow-up
  • Ability to manage shifting priorities without losing accuracy or composure
  • Goal-oriented approach and willingness to pitch in across the team as needed

One thing worth knowing about this type of role: the skill set you build here, particularly lease processing, delinquency follow-up, make-ready oversight, and team coordination, transfers directly into a Property Manager position. Weinstein promotes from within, and many of their current managers started in leasing or assistant roles. If you're looking for a defined path toward managing your own community, the structure at a company this size, with 60-plus properties across five states, gives you real runway to get there.
