Assistant Property Manager

Lincoln Property Company has a real footprint in commercial real estate, and this Assistant Property Manager role in Washington, DC sits inside that ecosystem in a meaningful way. You'd be embedded in the day-to-day of a commercial portfolio that could include office, retail, or industrial assets, working directly alongside a Property Manager to keep tenants, vendors, and ownership all moving in the same direction.

A lot of what this role demands is relational. Tenants reach out when something's wrong, and your job is to make sure the right people respond correctly and quickly. That means knowing who handles what on the building technical side, how to read a management agreement, and how to communicate with a frustrated occupant without escalating the situation. Written and verbal communication aren't just listed here as filler. In commercial property management, how you deliver information to a tenant or a client shapes the entire relationship.

On the financial side, you'll support monthly reporting packages, help with operating expense reconciliations (CAM/OpX), and review vendor invoices for accuracy and compliance. You don't need to be an accountant, but you do need to be comfortable working with financial terms and doing the math correctly. Mistakes in expense reconciliations tend to surface at the worst possible times, usually during a lease renewal conversation.

Lease administration is another consistent thread. Setting up leases, tracking changes, coordinating move-ins and move-outs, and participating in walk-throughs with tenants and tenant improvement teams all fall within this scope. Commercial tenants have contractual expectations that are more detailed than most multifamily environments, and keeping documentation clean matters.

This position is fully in-office in DC, five days a week. That's worth stating clearly because it shapes the role. You'll be present at the property, accessible to tenants, and visible to ownership. That kind of proximity is actually an advantage for someone who wants to build relationships and learn the business quickly, but it's not a fit for anyone hoping for flexibility.

What separates candidates who thrive here from those who struggle is usually organizational discipline. The reporting cadence, vendor management, and lease tracking all run on deadlines, and a disorganized approach shows up fast in commercial PM. Strong candidates also tend to have some baseline comfort with AP systems and CMMS platforms, even if they're not experts.

What you'll bring

  • A bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent experience combined with demonstrated capability
  • One to two years of experience in property management or a closely related field
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills; familiarity with AP and CMMS systems is a plus
  • Comfort with financial concepts including percentages, reconciliations, and basic analysis
  • Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to maintain a constructive tone under pressure
  • Eligibility to work in the United States without visa sponsorship

The salary range for this role is $80,000 to $82,500, and Lincoln offers a benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) with traditional and Roth options, paid time off, company-paid life insurance and long-term disability, and an employee assistance program.
