It's a Tuesday morning and a resident stops by the office unannounced with a concern about their rent ledger. Meanwhile, your leasing consultant is mid-tour, the property manager is off-site, and your deposit run needs to happen before bank close. This is the rhythm of the Assistant Manager role at Preserve at Henderson Beach, and if that kind of day sounds manageable rather than overwhelming, keep reading.
Olympus Property has earned recognition from the National Apartment Association as a top employer three years running, and a lot of that comes down to how their onsite teams function together. As the Assistant Manager here in Destin, you'll sit at the center of that dynamic. You're the person who keeps financial records accurate, makes sure every dollar collected gets deposited on time, and steps into the Property Manager's role when they're away. That last part matters more than it might sound on paper. This is a real coverage role, not a backup-in-name-only position.
Day to day, you'll handle rent collection and delinquency follow-up, review make-ready apartments before move-ins, and process move-out dispositions with final account statements. You'll also jump in on leasing when traffic picks up or your leasing team needs support, which means knowing the product and the community well enough to show and close. Resident comments and complaints come through you first, so your instinct for de-escalation matters as much as your ability to track down a late payment.
Olympus also expects their Assistant Managers to have a read on the local submarket. That means knowing what's being built nearby, what neighboring communities are offering in concessions, and how hiring trends in the area might affect your applicant pool. Destin's rental market has consistent seasonal pressure from tourism and short-term demand, so keeping an eye on what's happening in the submarket isn't an abstract task here.
Olympus prefers candidates with onsite apartment experience, either as an Assistant Manager or as a cross-trained Leasing Consultant. RealPage, Knock, and Onesite familiarity will move your application forward. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 9 to 6, with flexibility expected for resident events and the first weekend of each month.
The pay range starts at $24 to $25 per hour, with monthly renewal incentives and quarterly bonuses on top of base. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) with employer matching, tuition reimbursement, pet insurance, an apartment rental allowance, and a sabbatical program, among others.
For someone ready to grow, the Assistant Manager seat is typically where Property Managers are built. If you're putting in the reps here, handling the financials, covering for leadership, and developing your leasing instincts, the path to a Property Manager role is a natural next step within Olympus's portfolio.
