Maintenance Supervisor

Bozzuto manages some of the most well-regarded residential communities on the East Coast, and the Chevy Chase location reflects that standard. This is a mid-level maintenance leadership role where you're not just fixing things. You're running the day-to-day physical operation of the property and developing the habits and accountability of the people around you.

The work is hands-on. You'll work through service tickets across HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and appliance repair. You'll manage the make-ready process so units turn cleanly and on schedule. You'll run preventative maintenance programs, handle grounds upkeep, and keep the building operating within applicable codes and safety standards. When something breaks at 11pm, you're part of the on-call rotation that responds. That's not a footnote. It's a real part of the job, and it matters that you go in knowing it.

The supervisory piece is just as real as the technical piece. You're not the top of the chain here, but you're expected to lead by example and set the tone for how the team works. If the people around you don't know what a finished punch list looks like, or why preventative maintenance actually reduces capex over time, part of your job is closing that gap. That takes patience and consistency, not just skill with a wrench.

What separates strong candidates from average ones in this role is the combination of trade depth and communication. Plenty of technicians know HVAC or plumbing cold. Fewer can document clearly, follow up with residents in a way that actually resolves tension, and hold a crew accountable without creating friction. What you bring

  • At least 5 years in the trades, facilities, or residential building maintenance
  • HVAC, EPA, or NAPE certification
  • Working knowledge of OSHA standards and risk management principles
  • Hands-on proficiency in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and appliance repair
  • Basic carpentry, drywall, and painting skills
  • Familiarity with complex mechanical systems (boilers, chillers, central plant, split systems) is a plus
  • Supervisory or lead experience, even informal, is preferred
  • Comfort with technology platforms and basic Microsoft Office tools
  • Physical ability to lift 25 to 50 pounds frequently, climb ladders, and work in varying weather
  • Availability for weekend shifts and emergency on-call rotation

The salary range for this position is $58,000 to $63,000, with bonus eligibility on top of that. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, 20 days of paid time off plus holidays, a 401k with company match, and tuition reimbursement.
