Assistant General Manager - Vantage
BozzutoIt's 10 a.m. on a Saturday. The GM is off. A prospective resident is waiting at the leasing desk, a maintenance callback sits unresolved from yesterday, and one of your team members needs a pep talk before their first solo tour. You handle all three, in sequence, without breaking stride. That's the job.
What This Role Covers
Vantage is a Bozzuto-managed community in Jersey City, and the Assistant General Manager position sits directly below the GM in the operational chain. When the GM is out, you're running the property. That responsibility isn't occasional. It's built into the role.
Day to day, you'll carry a mix of leasing and operational duties. On the leasing side, you conduct tours, work to close new leases, and contribute directly to occupancy goals. You also handle rent collection, post receipts, and manage delinquency. If a resident's account is aging, that's your problem to work through, not pass up the chain.
Resident retention is part of the picture too. Bozzuto puts real weight on the resident experience, which means every interaction carries. You're expected to handle complaints with care rather than deflection, follow through on open issues, and help build the kind of environment where residents choose to renew.
You'll mentor and coach team members when the GM isn't present. That means holding standards, offering direction, and covering gaps when someone is out. The property's interior and exterior appearance are also in your scope, including making sure the team presents professionally and the community looks the part at all times.
Weekend availability is part of the schedule. Expect one to two weekends per month, with corresponding weekdays off. Saturdays and Sundays are when traffic peaks, so that's when this role earns its keep on the leasing side.
What You Need to Bring
- A four-year degree or equivalent experience in a related field
- At least two years in property management, hospitality, or retail
- Familiarity with rent collection, accounts receivable, and basic budget exposure
- Comfort with Yardi or similar property management software
- Active presence on social platforms like Instagram and Facebook, with the ability to create content that actually engages
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- A genuine sales instinct, not just going through the motions of a tour
The salary range for this position is $80,000 to $85,000, with bonus eligibility on top of base. Bozzuto's benefits package includes medical, dental, and vision coverage, 20 days of paid time off plus holidays, a 401k with company match, and tuition reimbursement.
One thing worth knowing: AGM roles at well-run companies like Bozzuto tend to be a direct path to General Manager. The operators who move up fastest are the ones who treat the AGM seat as a full ownership mindset, not a holding pattern. If you're tracking delinquency closely, keeping occupancy steady, and earning your team's trust when the GM is out, the next step tends to follow.
