Assistant General Manager- Sacramento, CA

Action Property Management

Full-time
On-site
Sacramento, California, United States
HOA / Association Manager

What You'll Actually Do

This role sits at the center of daily HOA community operations. You'll work directly alongside the General Manager, handling the kind of tasks that keep a managed community running without friction: coordinating member services, fielding homeowner inquiries, and making sure the front desk and access control teams have the direction and training they need to perform well. You're the connective tissue between management decisions and resident experience.

In practice, that means your days shift between administrative detail and people-facing work. One hour you're reviewing community information to make sure it's accurate and current. The next you're training a front desk staff member on proper access control procedure or helping a homeowner understand association policy. The General Manager sets the direction; you help execute it and keep things moving when they're occupied elsewhere.

What You Bring

  • Prior experience in HOA management, residential property management, or a community-facing operations role
  • Comfort supervising and training support staff, with the patience to coach people through unfamiliar processes
  • Clear, professional communication with homeowners and board members, especially when conversations get tense
  • Organizational discipline to track open issues, follow up consistently, and close the loop without being reminded
  • Familiarity with access control systems and front desk operations is a genuine advantage here

The Craft of This Role

HOA management builds a specific kind of operational fluency that translates well across the industry. Working under a General Manager in a large association gives you exposure to governance, resident relations, vendor coordination, and staff supervision simultaneously. Those are exactly the skills that prepare someone to step into a General Manager role of their own. If you want to understand how a professionally managed community actually runs from the inside, this position delivers that education hands-on.

Action Property Management has operated in the HOA space since 1984 and now manages over 300 communities across nine offices, which means there's institutional knowledge here and real room to grow within a structured organization. The Sacramento market includes a mix of planned communities and high-density associations, so the complexity you'll encounter is genuine.

Strong candidates in this role tend to be people who already understand that homeowner satisfaction and operational consistency aren't in conflict. They know how to de-escalate a frustrated resident while still upholding community rules. That balance, between empathy and policy, is what separates a capable AGM from one who's just managing the inbox.
