What You'll Actually Do

The Assistant Community Manager at Millis and Main in Jamestown, NC sits at the intersection of leasing production and financial operations. On any given day, that means walking a prospect through an available home in the morning, then spending part of the afternoon reviewing ledgers for billing accuracy or making weekly delinquency follow-up calls. It's a full-cycle role where occupancy and NOI both land on your desk.

On the leasing side, you'll handle incoming traffic, conduct tours, manage the application and renewal pipeline, and work toward occupancy targets alongside the Community Manager. You'll also own the community's social media presence, which at a garden-style property like this one means keeping resident events visible and the community's identity consistent online.

The financial piece is more substantial than it is in a pure leasing role. You'll oversee rent collection, payment posting, and check scanning, monitor delinquency, and coordinate eviction procedures when necessary. Regular ledger reviews to verify payment applications and account accuracy are part of the routine, not an occasional task. You'll also contribute to reporting for regional leadership, so comfort with financial documentation matters here.

When the Community Manager is off-site or unavailable, you step into the lead position. That means keeping the team focused, handling escalated resident concerns, and making sure daily operations don't lose momentum.

What You Bring

  • Two years of property management experience, with at least six months in an assistant community manager capacity preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to read and act on financial reports, including delinquency tracking and basic ledger review
  • Leasing experience with a track record of converting traffic to signed leases
  • Strong conflict resolution skills and the composure to de-escalate difficult resident situations professionally
  • Valid driver's license required; a CALP designation is a plus
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent

The schedule runs Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 6 PM, and Saturdays from 10 AM to 4 PM, with one weekday off to maintain a 40-hour week. Some evening or weekend availability may come up for resident events.

The Role in Context
