What You'll Actually Do

This is an evening shift porter role covering common areas at Comstock's ParkX properties in Reston. You're coming in at 6PM when the daytime team wraps up, which means you're often the person who sets the tone for how the property looks through the rest of the night. Lobbies, restrooms, sidewalks, and public spaces need consistent attention. You'll run through daily cleaning checklists, handle pressure washing assignments, and keep janitorial storage areas organized and hazard-free.

Event support is part of the job. When the property hosts gatherings or public events, you help with setup and breakdown, and you respond to cleanliness issues as they come up rather than waiting for someone to escalate them. End-of-shift documentation matters here. You're responsible for a clean handoff, noting any maintenance issues, equipment damage, or safety concerns so nothing slips between shifts. Supply inventory, equipment upkeep, and compliance with cleaning standards all fall within your daily scope.

The Monday through Friday schedule is consistent, but flexibility for after-hours or weekend coverage during peak periods is expected. This is a union position, which means you'll have a defined set of responsibilities and protections that go with the role.

What You Bring

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver's license with no major violations
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and sustain physical work across a full shift, including standing, stooping, climbing stairs, and working in variable temperatures
• Genuine comfort interacting with residents, guests, and property staff in a professional, courteous way
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow cleaning schedules and checklists accurately
• Willingness to cover for coworkers and adjust to shifting priorities without needing close supervision
• Reliable attendance and a solid understanding of why punctuality matters at shift start
