A vendor crew arrives at 8:30 AM ready to pull cable through a unit, and it's your job to make sure they get in, stay on track, and don't create surprises for residents or management. That's the core of this role, and it's more coordination-intensive than it sounds.

What the Work Actually Involves

Cottonwood Residential is running a network infrastructure installation at Alpha Mill Apartments in Charlotte, and they need someone on-site to manage the day-to-day flow of that project. The assignment is temporary, estimated between one and seven weeks depending on how the installation progresses.

Each day, you'll coordinate vendor access to individual apartment homes and shared community spaces. That means walking units and common areas repeatedly throughout the day, not just doing a single morning walkthrough. You'll watch that the work is being done correctly, flag anything that looks off or behind schedule, and keep the IT Manager informed with timely updates. At the end of each shift, you'll produce a written daily recap covering progress, issues, and any resident interactions worth noting.

You'll also serve as the face of Cottonwood on-site. Residents may have questions or concerns when vendors are moving through their building. Handling those interactions professionally matters here, because a network installation can feel disruptive to residents even when it's going smoothly.

Skills This Role Requires and Skills It Builds

On the required side, you'll need strong organizational habits and real attention to detail. You're essentially keeping a live record of a construction-adjacent project, and gaps in documentation tend to surface as problems later. Clear written communication is non-negotiable since your daily recaps are the IT Manager's primary visibility into site conditions. You'll also need to be genuinely comfortable on your feet: stairs, hallways, and outdoor areas are part of the daily circuit.

What this role builds is equally worth noting. Vendor coordination and on-site project oversight are skills that transfer directly into property management, facilities management, and construction administration roles. Learning to track work against a scope, document deviations, and communicate up the chain under time pressure is exactly the kind of experience that distinguishes a strong coordinator candidate later. For someone early in a property management or real estate operations career, this short-term assignment produces a concrete, citable example of site management work.

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to walk units, stairs, and community grounds repeatedly throughout the day
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Professional customer service approach with residents, staff, and vendors
  • Basic computer proficiency for documentation
  • Dependable, punctual, and capable of working independently
  • Bilingual English and Spanish is a plus

The position pays $15 to $17 per hour depending on experience, runs Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, and targets a September 14th, 2026 start date. The role reports to the IT Manager.
