Maintenance Technician

Birgo manages residential properties across the Pittsburgh area, and right now they need a few extra sets of skilled hands to keep things running. These are temporary maintenance technician roles covering Greensburg, North Versailles, and the South Hills, with a realistic duration of one to three months. If things go well, there's room for the work to extend or convert to a full-time position.

The day-to-day work spans the full range of residential maintenance: make-readies, grounds upkeep, common area care, and general repairs covering drywall, painting, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC. You'll also contribute to preventative maintenance routines. The schedule runs Monday through Friday, with shifts either 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., plus participation in an on-call rotation. Pay runs $19 to $24 per hour, paid weekly, and the role is overtime eligible. Mileage reimbursement, paid time off, and PPE are included.

Because you'll be moving between properties, a valid driver's license and your own reliable transportation are required. You'll also need to comfortably lift and carry 50 pounds, work in confined spaces, and handle ladders and staircases safely.

Temp roles like this one reward technicians who come in ready to contribute without a long ramp-up period. The people who tend to stand out are the ones who carry a genuinely broad skill set, communicate clearly when something unexpected comes up on a unit, and treat residents with the same care they'd give a full-time property. Birgo's culture puts a lot of weight on how people show up with each other and with residents, so attitude matters as much as technical range here.

What they're looking for

  • Authorization to work in the United States
  • Valid driver's license and personal, reliable transportation
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted and work safely with power tools
  • Comfort in confined spaces and on ladders
  • Well-rounded building maintenance skills across trades
  • Strong communication and resident-facing professionalism

If you've done residential maintenance work before and you're between positions or looking to pick up temporary work while you weigh your next move, this is a practical opportunity to stay active, earn competitive hourly pay, and get a real look at how Birgo operates before deciding if a longer-term fit makes sense.
