Maintenance Technician
Peak ManagementWhat You'll Actually Do
This position covers two Louisville communities, Devonshire and Lyndon Crossings, with a combined unit count of more than 470. Your day runs across work orders, preventive maintenance, and apartment turns. That means HVAC troubleshooting, plumbing repairs, electrical fixtures, appliance issues, drywall, and light paint work. You'll also manage equipment and supply inventory, keep up with grounds care, and handle seasonal tasks including snow removal. Pool maintenance may be part of the mix depending on the community.
After-hours on-call is part of the job. Peak pays an on-call premium for it, but set your expectations accordingly: some nights and weekends, you'll get a call.
With 470-plus units split across two properties, the work volume is real. Strong candidates know how to triage. A clogged drain and a non-functioning furnace in January are both urgent, but they're not equal. The technicians who perform well here move efficiently, communicate clearly with residents, and don't let a full work order queue turn into a backlog.
What You Bring
- Prior maintenance experience at an apartment community or comparable residential setting
- Hands-on familiarity with HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical, and basic appliance repair
- Ability to troubleshoot problems independently without waiting on a supervisor to direct each step
- HVAC certification is preferred but not a hard requirement
- Physical readiness: ladder work, confined spaces, lifting up to 50 pounds, outdoor work in all weather
- Professionalism with residents. You're often the only person from the company they see face-to-face
Compensation and Context
Pay ranges from $17 to $27 per hour depending on experience. The package includes medical, dental, and life insurance, paid time off (plus your birthday), a 401(k) with employer match, an on-call premium, and a sign-on bonus.
Peak Management operates across multiple communities, so strong technicians here have a clear path toward senior tech or lead maintenance roles as they build tenure and skills. If you want to grow within a multi-property company rather than stay in a single-site dead end, the structure is there.
