Maintenance Supervisor

Weinstein Properties runs a vertically integrated operation: they own and manage everything in-house, which means the maintenance team isn't answering to a third-party owner who's never set foot on the property. That kind of structure changes the job. Decisions get made faster, there's real accountability at the property level, and technicians who perform well tend to grow within the company rather than get lost in a corporate shuffle.

This Maintenance Assistant Supervisor role covers properties in the South Charlotte and Concord areas. It's a working supervisory position, meaning you're not just reviewing work orders from a desk. You're in the field turning wrenches alongside your team, diagnosing HVAC issues, handling plumbing calls, running electrical repairs, and doing the full range of building maintenance work that keeps units occupied and residents satisfied. At the same time, you're helping coordinate the service team's schedule, assisting with vendor oversight, and making sure turns get completed on time and to standard.

The technical bar here is real. Weinstein requires EPA/CFC certification (Type I and II or Universal), hands-on HVAC repair experience, and a working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, pool maintenance, carpentry, drywall, and appliance repair. You'll also need to be comfortable with the software side: assigning and tracking work orders, scheduling, ordering supplies, and communicating through email. Four years of trade experience is the minimum, with at least one of those years spent in a lead, assistant supervisor, or supervisory capacity in apartment maintenance specifically.

On-call rotation is part of the role. That's worth saying plainly because it's a real commitment. The on-call bonus structure (a flat $150 per week regardless of call volume, plus extra for holidays) reflects that Weinstein takes it seriously as a working condition, not just a footnote.

What Separates Strong Candidates

The technicians who thrive in assistant supervisor roles like this one tend to be strong communicators as much as strong tradespeople. You're the link between residents who are frustrated and a team that's stretched. You'll interact with people who are upset about a broken AC in August, vendors who don't show on time, and a supervisor who needs accurate updates. The ability to stay calm, set realistic expectations, and follow through consistently matters as much as your HVAC certification.
