Leasing Professional, J. Coopers Row
Jefferson Apartment GroupThe Navy Yard submarket in Washington, DC has absorbed a significant amount of new high-rise inventory over the past decade, and it remains one of the city's most competitive lease-up corridors. J. Coopers Row sits directly next to Nationals Park at South Capitol Street, which means the leasing conversation here is as much about lifestyle and location as it is about floor plans. Jefferson Apartment Group is staffing this 312-unit, 12-story property with a Leasing Professional who can convert traffic into signed leases while representing the community well from day one.
The Property and the Role
J. Coopers Row carries a mix of studios, one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments alongside ground-level rental townhomes with private entrances. That unit diversity means you'll be qualifying prospects across a wide range of budgets and lifestyle needs, and matching the right resident to the right product type. Day to day, you're walking units, showing models, processing applications, explaining lease terms and addenda, and posting availability across listing platforms. You'll also accept rental payments and handle notices to vacate, which means this isn't a pure sales role. Resident relations and basic administrative accuracy are part of the job from the start.
Jefferson Apartment Group operates as a fully integrated real estate firm across acquisition, development, construction, and property management, which gives the company unusual depth compared to a pure third-party management shop. That integration tends to show up in how decisions get made at the property level: there's generally more continuity between the development vision and how a community is actually managed and leased.
What Strong Candidates Bring
- Genuine comfort with a sales-oriented leasing process, including following up on leads and closing on the spot when the opportunity is there
- Attention to leasing paperwork detail. Errors in applications or lease addenda create downstream problems for collections and renewals
- Weekend availability. Saturdays especially tend to drive the highest walk-in traffic at urban high-rises, and this role requires it
- Familiarity with listing platforms and online marketing, including Craigslist and ILS posting
- Customer service experience in any fast-moving environment, retail, hospitality, or residential leasing all translate well here
A high school diploma is the minimum requirement. Additional education or vocational training is preferred but the real differentiator at this level is someone who can read a prospect, communicate clearly, and keep their paperwork clean under volume. The Navy Yard draws a mix of young professionals and federal-adjacent renters who typically do their research before visiting. Knowing the neighborhood's walkability, transit access, and entertainment options gives you a real edge in the leasing conversation.
Pay runs $24.00 to $26.00 per hour. Full-time employees receive medical, dental, and vision coverage for themselves and eligible family members, paid time off, performance-based bonus potential, and potential rental discounts. This is an in-office, on-site position.
