Leasing Consultant

Leasing is a volume game with a relationship core. At a 318-unit community like the Reserve at Hamburg, that tension is constant: you're expected to convert traffic into signed leases, but the way you get there is by actually listening to what a prospective resident needs and matching them to the right unit. Ackermann Group has been doing real estate development and property management in the Midwest since 1938, and they're hiring a full-time Leasing Consultant to join the on-site team in Lexington, KY.

What the Day Actually Looks Like

Most of your time splits between guest interactions and the administrative work that surrounds them. You'll greet prospects in person and over the phone, schedule and lead tours, and handle the full leasing paperwork trail: guest cards, applications, lease prep, and move-in documentation. Yardi Voyager and Rent Café are the preferred platforms here, so comfort with property management software matters.

Beyond the leasing desk, you'll do regular walk-throughs of units and common areas to confirm they're market-ready. That means picking up trash, tidying a unit before a showing, and flagging anything that needs maintenance attention. You're the first point of contact for resident service requests too, which means logging the need and routing it to the right person, quickly.

Rotating Saturdays are part of the schedule (9am to 4pm), and occasional after-hours resident events come with the role. That's worth knowing upfront. It's not constant, but it's real.

The commission structure ties to both new leases and renewals, so your earning potential has a direct connection to how well you convert traffic and retain residents. Understanding local market conditions well enough to position Hamburg against competing communities is part of how strong consultants earn that commission consistently.

What Ackermann Is Looking For

  • Prior customer service experience (required); leasing or sales background strongly preferred
  • Comfort with property management software, specifically Yardi Voyager, Rent Café, and CRM tools
  • Solid written and verbal communication, with the ability to build rapport quickly
  • Working knowledge of fair housing requirements and lease documentation standards
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to work Monday through Friday, 9am to 6pm, plus rotating Saturdays

Ackermann offers medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) with company match, paid time off including your birthday, an employee rent discount at any Ackermann community, and career development support.

One thing that separates a strong leasing consultant from an average one at a property this size: the ability to stay organized under traffic pressure without letting follow-up slip. Prospects who don't hear back within 24 hours often sign somewhere else. The consultants who track their pipeline carefully and follow through consistently are the ones whose close rates hold up month after month.
