Leasing Consultant

Part-time leasing roles at established New England operators tend to be genuinely instructive. The hours are focused, the traffic is real, and the feedback loop between prospect interaction and signed lease is short enough that you learn quickly what works and what doesn't. This position at The Ledges in Weymouth puts you in that environment under the banner of John M. Corcoran & Company, a firm with roots going back to 1951 and a reputation for developing people as deliberately as it develops properties.

What the Role Involves

The core of this position is converting traffic into leases. You'll tour apartments with prospective residents, walk them through pricing and lease terms, and process their applications through to approval. From there, you'll build out lease packages and coordinate move-ins, which means the job doesn't end at the signed application. You own the experience through the point when a new resident gets their keys.

Beyond the tour itself, you'll contribute to the marketing side of leasing. That includes setting occupancy goals and working toward them through digital channels, social media, and local networking. You'll also stay connected with current residents throughout their tenancy and complete regular property inspections to keep curb appeal where it needs to be. At 20 hours per week, the schedule runs afternoons Monday through Friday, with a slightly later shift on Wednesdays.

Skills This Role Requires vs. Skills It Builds

A few things need to come in the door with you: clear communication, comfort with computers and customer-facing interactions, solid time management, and the kind of organized follow-through that keeps a prospect pipeline from going cold. A high school diploma or equivalent is the educational baseline.

What the role builds is different. You'll develop a working fluency in lease administration, a feel for how advertising channels actually drive traffic, and an understanding of how move-in quality shapes early resident retention. Those are transferable skills. Leasing consultants who learn to read their own traffic data and close consistently tend to move into assistant manager roles, where occupancy accountability and delinquency management become part of the job. This position is a reasonable first step toward that track.

The Company Behind the Role

JMC's longevity in New England real estate is worth noting because it reflects something about how the company operates internally. Long tenure among staff is a signal that the culture isn't just a talking point. For someone starting in property management, working inside a company where institutional knowledge is accessible and mentorship happens organically is a real advantage. The $2,500 sign-on bonus, along with medical, dental, vision, life insurance, PTO, and a 401(k) with company match, rounds out a compensation package that's competitive for a part-time leasing role at this pay range.

  • Pay range: $23.00 to $27.50 per hour
  • Sign-on bonus: $2,500
  • Schedule: Monday through Friday afternoons, 20 hours per week
  • Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, life insurance, paid time off, 401(k) with match

If you want to learn leasing from a company that's been doing it for over 70 years, this is a practical place to start.
