Leasing Consultant - Lincoln Park
Reside LivingLeasing Consultants at growing Chicago operators wear a lot of hats. On a given Thursday morning, you might be following up on weekend traffic leads, walking a vacant unit with your punch list notes to flag touch-ups for maintenance, and then turning around to host a tour for a prospect who found the property on Google. That rhythm, sales-forward but grounded in daily operations, is exactly what this role at Reside Living looks like.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Reside Living manages roughly 3,000 apartments across Chicago's neighborhoods, and this position is tied to their Lincoln Park portfolio. Your core job is keeping occupancy healthy: converting leads to signed leases, following up consistently through the CRM, and making sure prospects feel genuinely welcomed from the first call to move-in day. You'll also keep a pulse on the local market, run monthly audits of online marketing presence, and bring ideas to your Property Manager when you spot opportunities to improve traffic or resident satisfaction.
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Responding to prospect inquiries via phone, text, and email, and tracking all communication in the CRM (Yardi experience is a plus)
- Conducting tours and guiding prospects through the leasing process in compliance with fair housing, ADA, and all applicable state and federal regulations
- Physically inspecting vacant units and common areas, flagging service needs to maintenance staff
- Preparing daily and weekly leasing reports
- Helping plan and host resident events that support retention
The schedule runs Thursday through Monday, 9 AM to 5 PM, with Tuesdays and Wednesdays off. That's worth noting upfront because it's a real differentiator for some candidates and a dealbreaker for others.
Compensation and What Comes With It
The base is $22.00 per hour, and with commission and quarterly bonuses, total compensation typically lands between $65,000 and $75,000 annually. Beyond that, Reside Living offers medical, dental, and life insurance, a 401(k) match, paid time off, a commuter benefit, and a 25% monthly apartment discount. There's also a $100 monthly student loan assistance contribution, a $50 monthly phone stipend (you'll use your personal cell), and a $1,000 career apparel allowance for new hires.
Who Tends to Succeed Here
At least one year of leasing experience is required. Strong candidates come in already comfortable with the full leasing cycle and fluent enough with Microsoft Office to handle reporting without hand-holding. What separates good consultants from great ones in a role like this is honestly the follow-through. Generating traffic is one thing; tracking every prospect touchpoint, staying organized across a busy weekend of tours, and still bringing a genuine warmth to the hundredth showing of the month is a harder skill to screen for. If you find the sales side energizing rather than draining, and you care about the product you're representing, you'll fit the culture Reside Living describes.
Reside Living emphasizes an open environment with room to grow. For consultants who perform well, the natural path forward in property management runs toward Assistant Property Manager and eventually Property Manager roles, particularly within a portfolio that's still expanding.
