What You'll Actually Do

Prometheus calls this role a Neighbor Ambassador, and the title reflects something real about how the job works. At their Harken community in Los Altos, you're the first person a prospective resident meets, and often the one they remember most when it's time to renew. The day-to-day splits across three lanes: customer experience, sales, and operations.

On the customer side, you're making sure current residents feel genuinely looked after, not just processed. On the sales side, you're guiding prospects through the leasing experience from first inquiry to signed agreement. And on the admin side, you're handling the operational basics that keep a community running: market surveys, rental agreements, advertising posts, and neighborhood-level reporting. Los Altos sits in one of the tightest and most expensive rental submarkets in the Bay Area, which means prospects arrive informed and selective. Your job is to earn their trust, not just capture their interest.

Weekends are when traffic peaks, so your schedule will include Saturday and Sunday. Your regular days off fall during the week, and Prometheus offers a weekend shift premium to reflect that commitment.

What You Bring

  • A background in customer service, sales, or a client-facing role, even outside property management
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to adapt your approach to different people quickly
  • Comfort working independently while staying accountable to a team
  • Enough organizational discipline to juggle leasing activity and administrative tasks in the same shift
  • A genuine interest in building a career in property management, not just filling a role temporarily

Prometheus is open about hiring from outside the industry. If you've come from hospitality, retail, or another service environment and you have the instincts for connecting with people and closing, the company is structured to bring you up to speed on the property management side.

Compensation and Career Context

The hourly rate runs from $25.00 to $26.25, with a $200 incentive per signed lease and a discretionary semi-annual bonus. Additional bonuses apply for referrals, training coaching, lease-up performance, and renovation projects. Medical, dental, and vision coverage is 100% company-paid, including for eligible dependents. The benefits package also includes a 401(k) with employer matching, tuition reimbursement, paid volunteer time, and tenure-based housing discounts.

For someone early in a property management career, this type of leasing role builds a foundation that transfers directly to assistant manager and then property manager positions. The administrative exposure here, specifically the reporting, market survey work, and leasing operations, gives you a clearer picture of how a property performs than most pure leasing roles do. Candidates who advance quickly tend to be the ones who treat the admin side as seriously as the sales side rather than viewing paperwork as secondary to touring.
