Leasing Consultant

Jeffersonville sits just across the Ohio River from Louisville, and that positioning matters more than it might seem. Southern Indiana's rental market draws residents priced out of Louisville proper, people relocating for work in the river corridor, and long-term locals who want suburban stability without suburban isolation. A leasing consultant working this market needs to know how to sell that story, not just recite square footage and rent rates.

Waypoint Management Services is hiring a Leasing Consultant to join the team at their Jeffersonville community. The core of the job is converting interest into signed leases: answering calls and emails quickly, conducting tours that actually move people, following up with prospects who haven't committed, and guiding applicants through the full leasing process from qualification to move-in. You'll manage the paperwork side too, including lease preparation, prorations, and keeping traffic and application records accurate in the system. Yardi experience is a plus, though not required.

Beyond the transactional work, you'll contribute to occupancy through renewals and waitlist management, help with outreach and lead generation, and keep the leasing office, model, and amenity spaces tour-ready at all times. Fair Housing compliance isn't optional here, and comfort with lease documents and landlord-tenant basics is expected.

Bilingual candidates (English/Spanish) are preferred, which reflects the actual resident mix in many Southern Indiana communities. Weekend availability is required, as that's typically when traffic peaks.

What separates a strong candidate here from someone who's technically qualified: the ability to read where a prospect is in their decision and adjust the conversation accordingly. Objection handling in leasing isn't about overcoming resistance with scripts. It's about understanding what's actually holding someone back, whether that's timing, pricing, or uncertainty about the neighborhood, and responding with real information. Candidates who've come from hospitality or retail sales often develop this instinct faster than those with leasing experience alone, because they've learned to work with people under pressure without losing the relationship.

What Waypoint is offering

  • Monthly leasing and renewal bonuses, plus a Leaser of the Month monetary reward
  • Competitive base wage with an employee housing discount program
  • 120 hours of PTO in year one, increasing with tenure, plus two floating days
  • Medical, dental, and vision benefits subsidized and active on day one
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Commuter benefits, employee referral program, and professional development training

A minimum of two years in leasing, sales, or hospitality is preferred. A high school diploma or equivalent and a valid driver's license are required. If you're building a career in multifamily and want a role where your leasing numbers are actually recognized and rewarded, this is worth a close look.
