Leasing Consultant

Hawthorne Residential Partners has built a reputation as one of the 50 largest multifamily management companies in the country, with deep roots across the Southeast. Their Mezza Premier Apartments community in Jacksonville is looking for a Leasing Consultant, a role they call a Leasing and Live It Specialist. That title isn't just branding. It signals something real about how this company thinks about the leasing function: less transaction, more relationship.

The day-to-day here is genuinely varied. You'll field calls and online inquiries, conduct apartment tours, process applications, and follow up with prospects who haven't yet made a decision. You'll also help coordinate resident events and stay aware of what competing properties are doing in the local market. Jacksonville's rental market has stayed competitive, and knowing how to position your community against nearby options matters more than people expect when they first take a leasing role.

What separates a strong candidate from an average one in this role isn't just friendliness. It's follow-through. Plenty of people can give a warm tour. Fewer will consistently follow up with a prospect three days later, remember what they said they needed, and bring them back around to a decision. That persistence, paired with genuine curiosity about what a resident's life actually looks like, is what moves occupancy numbers.

The office runs Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 6 PM, and Saturdays from 10 AM to 4 PM. You'll get one weekday off to keep the week at 40 hours. Some evenings and weekends may come up for resident events. That's worth knowing upfront: this isn't a strictly Monday-through-Friday schedule, and if weekend availability is a real constraint for you, it's better to name that early.

On the compensation side, hourly pay is supplemented by monthly leasing and renewal commissions, which means your paycheck is partly tied to how the community performs. That's standard in multifamily leasing, and it tends to suit people who like having some control over what they earn.

Hawthorne also offers a defined career path for people who want to grow. Leasing Consultant to Assistant Community Manager is the natural next step, and they actively support that progression through internal learning and development programs. If you're treating this as a stepping stone rather than a destination, that's fine. They seem to expect it and plan for it.

What They're Looking For

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • At least one year of customer service, sales, or apartment leasing experience (preferred, not required)
  • Valid driver's license
  • CALP certification is a plus, not a requirement
  • Comfort communicating across phone, email, and in-person settings
  • Availability that includes Saturdays and occasional evenings

Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401k with company match, paid time off (including your birthday), paid parental and adoption leave, pet insurance, telehealth access, and company-paid life insurance. It's a solid package for an entry-level or early-career leasing role.
