Leasing Consultant
Weinstein PropertiesSkills This Role Runs On
This position at The Bowery at Southside runs on communication, sales follow-through, and the ability to shift gears fast. You'll spend a large part of your day talking to people: prospective residents touring units, current residents with concerns, and teammates coordinating the day's priorities. Strong verbal and written communication aren't just nice to have here. They're the engine of the job.
Weinstein Properties is straightforward about what they want: someone without leasing experience is fine, but someone without drive isn't. The team is specifically seeking a candidate with some leadership or management background who can move toward Assistant Manager level. If you've supervised people, run a shift, managed a team, or owned outcomes in a service environment, that background applies here more directly than you might expect.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
The days have a rhythm, but interruptions are part of that rhythm. You'll greet walk-ins, take calls, process applications, inspect units, and respond to resident questions, sometimes all before lunch. The administrative side of the role is real: paperwork, follow-ups, and keeping files accurate matter as much as closing a lease.
This isn't a role where you sit at a desk and wait for leads. You'll walk the property, check on unit readiness, and pitch in on tasks outside your core responsibilities when the team needs it. Weinstein operates with a hands-on culture from the top down, and that expectation extends to everyone on site. Resident events and occasional off-schedule hours come with the territory.
Schedule runs weekdays 9 to 6, Saturdays 9 to 5 on a rotating basis with your team, and Sundays off. Starting pay is $19 per hour with quarterly bonuses on top.
Why This Role at Weinstein
Weinstein Properties has been family-owned for over 70 years, with a portfolio of more than 60 communities across Virginia, North Carolina, Texas, Tennessee, and Georgia. That ownership structure tends to produce more consistency in culture and training than you'd find at a larger institutional operator. They've built a reputation for promoting from within, and this posting is a direct signal of that: they're looking for someone with growth potential, not just someone to fill a leasing seat.
The skills you build here transfer well. Leasing consultants who move up in property management typically develop the resident relations experience needed for Assistant Manager roles, where the work shifts toward collections, delinquency oversight, and light financial reporting. Starting in leasing and being explicitly positioned for upward movement is a practical entry point into a full property management career.
- Starting pay: $19/hour, increasing with experience
- Quarterly bonus structure
- Rotating Saturday schedule (not every week)
- Training program provided, prior leasing experience not required
- Management experience and career ambition are the real differentiators here
