Leasing Consultant

A prospect walks in off the street after seeing the listing online. They have questions, a budget, and maybe a move-in date three weeks out. Your job starts the moment they walk through the door.

Griffis Residential is hiring a Leasing Consultant for their Seattle community. This is a front-line sales and service role. You'll handle inbound traffic from prospects, conduct apartment tours, qualify applicants, and carry deals from first contact through signed lease. You'll also support renewals, move-in and move-out procedures, and coordinate with the maintenance team when resident concerns need follow-up.

What the Work Looks Like

Day to day, you're fielding calls and emails, scheduling tours, and walking prospects through available units. You match what you know about the apartment to what the prospect actually needs. You prep leases, track applications, and make sure nothing falls through the cracks between inquiry and move-in. On the marketing side, you support efforts to keep the community visible and the pipeline moving. Weekend availability is required; some evenings come with the territory.

Griffis operates luxury apartment communities, so the expectation is polished, professional communication across every channel. Residents and prospects notice when that standard slips.

What Griffis Is Looking For

  • High school diploma required; a bachelor's degree or NALP certification is preferred
  • At least one year of onsite leasing experience, or a background in hospitality, sales, or a similar customer-facing field
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfort multitasking across phone, email, and in-person interactions simultaneously
  • Familiarity with Fair Housing regulations (a plus, but not a hard requirement)
  • Availability to work weekends and occasional evenings

The pay range is $23 to $25 per hour. Benefits include a 50% rental discount, a quarterly bonus program (up to $2,000 annually), per-lease occupancy bonuses starting at $175, medical, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k) with up to 4% company match, a minimum of three weeks PTO accruing from day one, 11 paid holidays, tuition reimbursement up to $5,250 per year, and paid parental leave.

One thing worth knowing: leasing consultant experience translates directly into assistant manager and property manager roles. Companies like Griffis promote from within, and time spent in leasing builds the resident relations, sales, and administrative skills that those next-level roles require. If you're treating this as a stepping stone into property management, this is a reasonable place to build that foundation.
