This role runs on three core skills: attention to detail, physical stamina, and a consistent service mindset. If those come naturally to you, the day-to-day here is straightforward and the work matters more than it might sound on paper.
You're responsible for keeping common areas clean and presentable at Redpoint Columbia, a student housing community in Columbia, South Carolina. That means the pool and spa, clubroom, public restrooms, and laundry facilities are yours to maintain on a regular schedule. Sweeping, mopping, dusting, polishing. Clearing debris from walkways, parking areas, curbs, and stairways. These aren't occasional tasks. They're daily.
Beyond the routine, you'll field requests from residents and staff with professionalism. You'll flag damages, safety concerns, or anything that needs escalation to a supervisor. On an as-needed basis, you may assist with general maintenance tasks or help with move-in and move-out cleaning. Student housing turns can be intense. Move-out periods compress a lot of cleaning work into a short window, and flexibility around those cycles is part of the job.
You're also expected to be available on-call outside regular hours when something urgent comes up at the property.
The Scion Group operates student housing communities across the country. At a property like Redpoint Columbia, the resident population is almost entirely students, which means the pace picks up around move-in, move-out, and break periods. The strongest candidates in this role don't just clean well. They notice things. A broken fixture, a safety hazard near the pool, a laundry room that needs attention before a resident complains. That proactive eye is what separates solid housekeepers from great ones in this environment.
The position is full-time and non-exempt. Benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance, a 401k with matching, paid time off, parental leave, and an annual discretionary bonus. Scion also offers learning reimbursement, which is worth noting if you're interested in growing into maintenance or facilities coordination over time.
