Groundskeeper - Rocket Pointe

Groundskeeper / Porter

It's 9 AM at Rocket Pointe and the first thing on the list is a lap of the property before residents head to work. Cigarette butts by the breezeway, a bag that missed the dumpster, a few leaves tracked into the laundry room. Small stuff, but it's the stuff that shapes first impressions for prospects and sets the tone for residents who pay rent every month.

What the Role Covers

Olympus Property, a three-time National Apartment Association Top Employer (2023, 2024, and 2025), is hiring a full-time Groundskeeper for Rocket Pointe in Durango, CO. The schedule runs Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 6 PM. The work is physical and mostly outdoors, so comfort with Colorado's variable weather is a practical requirement, not a footnote.

Day-to-day, you're keeping the community's curb appeal tight: debris and trash pickup across parking lots, common areas, hallways, breezeways, laundry rooms, and public spaces. You'll handle light cleaning and minor prep work ahead of resident move-ins, track cleaning supply inventory, and occasionally support the office team by posting notices on resident doors. Lifting up to 25 pounds and operating light equipment is part of the routine. Safety and compliance standards apply throughout.

Prior experience in landscaping, grounds maintenance, facilities, or janitorial work is required. This isn't a role where the learning curve is long; Olympus needs someone who already knows how to assess a property and work through a task list independently.

Compensation and Benefits

The pay range for this position starts at $18 to $20 per hour, depending on location and experience. Eligible team members also receive monthly bonuses. The full benefits package includes:

  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • Educational assistance and tuition reimbursement
  • Pet insurance
  • 401(k) with employer matching
  • Short-term and long-term disability
  • Critical illness and accidental injury coverage
  • Life and AD&D insurance
  • Paid time off and a sabbatical program
  • Apartment rental allowance
  • Career pathing and growth opportunities
  • Team building events and team trips

Groundskeeping is often the entry point into property operations for people who want to build a long-term career in multifamily. At a company with formal career pathing, this role can lead to maintenance technician, lead porter, or make-ready roles over time. The skills you develop here, consistent quality control, property-wide awareness, and working within a coordinated site team, carry directly into those next steps.
