What You'll Actually Do

This role puts you in charge of day-to-day janitorial operations across a mixed portfolio: commercial, multifamily, and hotel properties in Rockville, Reston, Arlington, and Ashburn. You'll report to the Director of Janitorial Services and spend your time in the field, not behind a desk. That means property walks, staff coordination, and making sure lobbies, restrooms, sidewalks, and common areas consistently meet standard.

Your day involves supervising porter and custodial staff across multiple sites, covering scheduling gaps, and filling in on the floor when coverage is short. You'll track labor costs, monitor overtime, and assist with budget reporting. Pressure washing, limited window cleaning, and general upkeep all fall under your scope. You'll also handle cleaning supply inventory, equipment maintenance, and incident documentation. When events come up, you're coordinating setup and breakdown and making sure the team is staffed and ready.

You'll serve as the communication link between frontline staff and the Senior Manager. That means logging outstanding issues from your property walks, escalating facility concerns quickly, and making sure cleaning checklists are followed accurately by everyone on your crew. Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is required. A significant portion of your team communication will happen in Spanish, and the ability to explain tasks, set expectations, and hold people accountable in both languages is central to the job.

What You Bring

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 3 years of janitorial services experience
  • Fluency in English and Spanish (written and spoken)
  • Valid driver's license with a clean record
  • Experience supervising or coordinating a team
  • Availability for weekends and after-hours shifts, particularly around events
  • Strong scheduling, time management, and documentation skills
  • Comfortable working across multiple sites in a single day
