Weinstein Properties has been family-owned for over 70 years, and that longevity isn't accidental. The company manages more than 60 apartment communities across Virginia, North Carolina, Texas, Tennessee, and Georgia, and it still operates with the kind of hands-on involvement you don't always see at that scale. This Assistant Property Manager role is based at Bexley Village at Concord Mills in Concord, NC, and it's a real working position with real expectations attached.
The job covers a wide range of daily responsibilities. You're greeting prospects, answering internet leads, scheduling tours, and walking people through the community. You're also processing applications, assembling lease paperwork, collecting deposits, and getting signatures. Once residents move in, your job shifts to retention: renewals, transfer requests, pet addendums, account questions, and the occasional difficult conversation when someone wants to terminate early. On the back end, you're posting rent, following up on balances, processing move-outs, and handling security deposit dispositions. You'll also coordinate closely with maintenance, walking units to confirm make-ready standards are met and following up on open work orders.
Here's the honest version of what this role looks like day to day: it's rarely linear. You might be mid-way through a lease audit when a prospect walks in, or wrapping up a move-out inspection when a resident calls with an urgent account question. The people who struggle here are the ones who need a quiet, predictable environment to do their best work. The people who thrive are the ones who can mentally reset between tasks without losing the thread on any of them.
You'll also help plan and host resident events, which sometimes means staying late or adjusting your schedule. Rotating Saturdays are part of the job. That's worth knowing upfront.
Weinstein doesn't require prior property management experience for this role. If you've managed people or handled high-volume customer interactions in hospitality, retail, or sales, that background translates. What matters more is whether you can hold a professional, grounded conversation when a resident is upset, stay organized when the day goes sideways, and take ownership of tasks without waiting to be asked twice.
The position starts at $21 per hour, increases based on experience, and includes quarterly bonuses. Benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance, a 401k with company match, paid holidays, birthday time off, vacation and sick time, a rent discount, and an Employee Assistance Program. There's also a sign-on bonus, details of which are discussed during the interview process.
This role is a common entry point into property management leadership. Assistant Property Managers at companies like Weinstein frequently move into Property Manager roles, and from there into area or regional positions. If you're coming from outside the industry, this is a reasonable place to build credentials quickly, especially with a company that has a structured training program and a track record of promoting from within.
