A resident calls at 9 a.m. with a billing question. By 10, you're posting rent payments and flagging a delinquent account for follow-up. By noon, you've toured two prospects and handed off a lease application to process. That's a normal Tuesday in this role.
Hawthorne Residential Partners is hiring an Assistant Community Manager at The Park at North Ridge, a community in North Raleigh off Claxton Circle. Hawthorne ranks among the top 50 multifamily management companies nationally, with a Southeast-focused portfolio and a reputation for promoting from within.
This role sits at the intersection of leasing, resident relations, and financial administration. You'll support the Community Manager on daily operations and step into a lead role when they're out. The work is varied: one hour you're conducting a leasing tour, the next you're reconciling a ledger or making delinquency follow-up calls.
Core responsibilities include:
The office is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. One weekday off is provided weekly to maintain a 40-hour schedule. Some evening and weekend availability may be needed for resident events.
Hawthorne prefers candidates with at least two years of property management experience. Prior time in an assistant manager role (six months or more) is a plus. A valid driver's license is required. A CALP designation is a nice-to-have but not a dealbreaker.
The candidates who do well here aren't just strong with people. They can read a ledger, spot a billing error, and have a direct conversation with a resident about a past-due balance without it becoming a conflict. Financial literacy and interpersonal confidence carry equal weight in this role.
Compensation includes hourly pay plus monthly leasing and renewal commissions and quarterly performance bonuses. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k) with match, paid time off (including your birthday), paid parental and adoption leave, pet insurance, telehealth access, and company-paid life insurance.
Hawthorne also runs a formal Career Path Program. Assistant Community Manager to Community Manager is a common progression here, and the company's Learning and Development team actively supports that track.
