Appliance Repair Technician - Temporary (Full-Time or Part-Time)
Weinstein PropertiesA resident calls in that her refrigerator stopped cooling overnight. By 9 a.m., you're in her apartment, running diagnostics, and by noon the compressor issue is identified and parts are ordered. That's a typical morning at Bexley Crossing at Providence.
Weinstein Properties is bringing on a temporary Appliance Repair Technician at this Ballantyne-area community for an assignment expected to run up to 60 days, with the possibility of extension based on property needs. Both full-time (up to 40 hours per week) and part-time schedules are available, and the company wants someone who can commit to at least 30 days. Weinstein owns and manages its communities directly, so the onsite team tends to be cohesive and invested in the property rather than juggling multiple client accounts.
What You'll Be Doing Day to Day
The core of this role is residential appliance repair across the community, both in occupied apartments and vacant units going through turns. You'll diagnose and fix refrigerators, washers, dryers, dishwashers, ranges, ovens, and similar appliances, troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and operational issues and replacing faulty components as needed. You'll also handle appliance installations and replacements as they come up.
Work orders are managed electronically, so comfort with a mobile device or digital system matters. When your appliance queue allows, you may assist the onsite maintenance team with general work orders or make-ready tasks, but appliance repair is the primary focus here.
Because you'll be working inside residents' homes, professionalism and basic communication skills matter as much as your technical ability. Residents notice when a technician is courteous and organized. The team notices when you clean up after yourself and close out work orders accurately.
What This Role Calls For
- Hands-on experience diagnosing and repairing residential appliances across all common types
- Ability to work independently and manage a work order queue without close supervision
- Comfort with hand tools, power tools, and appliance diagnostic equipment
- Physical capability to lift up to 75 lbs and handle stairs, kneeling, and bending throughout the day
- Reliable transportation to the property
- Willingness to assist with general maintenance tasks as a secondary responsibility
- Ability to pass a background check
- Prior apartment maintenance experience is a plus, though not required
One thing that tends to separate strong candidates in a role like this: speed without shortcuts. In a community setting, there are always more work orders than hours. Technicians who can accurately triage on the first visit, order the right part the first time, and return promptly to close out the repair build goodwill fast with both residents and the maintenance supervisor. Those who reschedule often or leave repairs open create friction for the whole team.
If you've spent time doing route-based appliance service and you're ready to work from one location for a defined period, this is a straightforward fit.
